The current Broadway cast features Marcus John as Alexander Hamilton and Lauren Mariasoosay as Eliza Hamilton, both making their Broadway debuts after touring with the production. Hamilton narrates Alexander as a beloved husband, father, and friend, Besides from being portrayed as an ambitious young innovative who is somewhat enviable and frightening. Hamilton lost both his parents at such a young age which made him a street rat, well acquainted with the hardship of unease, and the chance to succeed. The show was written as if Miranda was trying to create a lyrical for love, loss, ambition, and legacy. Hamilton first premiered at The Public Theater in New York City on February 17, 2015, before transferring to the Richard Rodgers Theatre where it has been running since.
