Alexander Hamilton was known for being the founding Secretary of the Treasury in the USA and wrote the Federalist Papers. He unfortunately died from being shot in a duel he had with the then U.S. Vice President - Aaron Burr. What a time to be alive then, aye?!
The dramatic historic account is what inspired Lin-Manuel Miranda to develop this Broadway masterpiece. From day one in 2015, Hamilton has won several awards.
Hamilton has a holy 16 Tony Awards nominations and won 11, including "Best Musical". The Broadway sensation, Hamilton, won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Best Drama.
Some say the greatest aspect of the Hamilton experience is its diverse cast. The show casts racial minorities to play white Founding Fathers. Miranda says Hamilton is about "America then, as told by America now." Currently, Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theatre has cast Trey Curtis as Alexander Hamilton, Bryson Bruce as Thomas Jefferson, Jared Dixon as Aaron Burr and many more talented minority actors.
