Hamilton at Richard Rodgers Theatre

Show creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, fresh off his success from his last Broadway play, In the Heights, conceptualized Hamilton for a few years before it debuted in the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2015. It was in this opening that Miranda also played the lead role. The entire Musical, including its stellar cast and astounding music received highly regarded feedback from both critics and the audiences alike.

The Musical, as most know, is a historical story created about one of Americas Founding Fathers, but the show takes a contemporary and modern approach, as seen in the music styles used and especially in its multicultural cast. Plus, the 70th Tony Awards, where Hamilton was awarded 11 out of 16 nominations, is a display of its success. the Musical’s initial cast was made up of the actors, Philippa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr., and Jonathan Groff. Individually, the cast was already filled with both famous nominees and awardees, but their diverse and memorable performances collected together brought Hamilton to a brand-new level. The creative team, just as incredibly talented, earned Tony Awards for Hamilton. Thomas Kail for Best Direction, Andy Blankenbuehler for Best Choreography, Alex Lacamoire for Best Orchestrations, Howell Binkley for Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Paul Tazewell for Best Costume Design of a Musical, and of course the man himself Lin-Manuel Miranda for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical, all topped the 2016 Tony Awards. Additionally, and unsurprisingly, the show also took home Best Musical for 2016. The current cast and production crew in each new venue where the show is put on brings the same passion and inspiration in their nights, with overwhelming positive reviews posted consistently.

The show’s global rise to fame led to opening many doors all over the world for audiences to experience Hamilton. It has continued for the past decade to perform not just on Broadway, but also across the pond in the U.K. and in numerous entertainment venues across Asia. The production’s limited season will be arriving in New York throughout February (and on Thursday 19th February 2026) at Richard Rodgers Theatre, selling out at yet another world-class stage with the top facilities and sound engineering that could surpass even Broadway and West End theaters.
